Overview

The DuckDuckGo Search tool is a tool that allows you to search the web using the DuckDuckGo search engine.

Best Practices

No API key needed

The built-in duckduckgo tool ships with praisonaiagents and needs no provider key — only OPENAI_API_KEY for the agent’s LLM.

Cap results with max_results

The underlying internet_search(query, max_results=5) defaults to 5 results. Lower it for faster, cheaper agent loops when you only need the top hits.

Retries are built in

The tool retries up to 3 times with backoff on transient failures. For persistent empty results, fall back to another search tool in the agent’s toolset.
